Challenge
This competition challenges student teams to design, build, and test ultra-energy-efficient vehicles. The winners are the teams that travel the furthest using the least amount of energy. The 2014 Shell Eco-marathon Asia event was open to 105 student teams from 15 countries across Asia and the Middle East. Teams submitted vehicle entries in the urban concept for prototype category under any of seven different energy types. The Eco-marathon aimed to empower the next generation of energy leaders.
Our task was to create the guided experience throughout this ginormous space, engaging storyline, and a final, memorable interactive experience with takeaways.

Approach
Using RFID cards, attendees tapped their way through a series of Mini-games set at the entryway of each section of the sprawling space. Involving interactive touchscreens, we involved STEAM subjects in mini choices and problems to solve.
The final experience entitled Join the Team, involved a giant 14m screen with a reflective floor, Kinect skeletal mapping technology, with 5 user spaces, to tap in and activate users final Architype of an Inventor, Engineer, Connector, Designer, or Adventurer. Each Archetype was determined by the choices made within the Mini-games. Attendees swiped, stepped up, and day turned to night on screen as they jumped up and down in front of a low-poly future city. They then got to play with a digital visual representation of different types of energy, received a badge, and a photo opp. -
Results
During the event, the historic Luneta Park in Manila was transformed into a racetrack, and at the center, a multiroom space with different interactive displays and exhibits under the Shell Energy Lab.
This comprised of the Energy Globe Screening Room, Stress Nexus Voting Games, Energy Mix Interactive games, Kinetic Energy Dance Floor, Energy Generators, Shell Innovation area, Shell Centennial Area, From Rig to Road Area, Planet You, Mini Eco-marathon and various others. All the exhibits and displays were aimed at educating the younger generations on the importance of sustainability and innovation for the future of energy, technology, and mobility.
My role as Creative Lead on the final experience, wayfinding & mini-games, leading the development, creative team, & onsite setup.
