Make the Future London

A Four Day Festival
of Innovation & Bright
Ideas in Action

  • Challenge

Make the Future London is an evolution of the Shell Eco-Marathon. WIth 6 different zones that include an Ideas Incubator, a Make zone and a focus on Future Energy and Mobility, Make the Future has a fresh festival vibe and branding for a younger generation of innovators and engineers.

  • Approach

Our task was to create a simple responsive site that reflected the fresh take, focussed on mobile first, and used Maker Pass in place of RFID / Apple Wallet for ticketing. We took reference from British festival and music sites and created a bright, vibrant scrolling / expanding site that covered the 6 zones, calendar, registration, ticketing and digital souvenirs.

Pelé teamed up with Shell to bring together two continents in a player-powered kinetic energy game; Pelé’s Energy Challenge. Pelé’s Energy Challenge showcased the power of kinetic tile technology that converts footsteps into renewable electricity.

The challenge featured two teams comprised of local children from London and Lagos linked up via satellite. The more energy a player generated on the tiles the more time they had to compete, directly linking the technology to the task. Shell previously installed kinetic football pitches in Rio and Lagos, providing a safe environment for the communities to play, with floodlights powered by the players and solar panels.
